Overall my trip to New Orleans was a very fun and learning experience! What surprised me the most when I was down there was how many people were living on the streets and how run down the town still is from Hurricane Katrina. It really made me feel good to do our community work. We helped a guy clean out the lot next to his house that hadn’t been kept up since the hurricane, but we – along with other groups – got it all cleared out within a couple days. It really made me smile when he told us how glad he was that we came to help. The best part of the trip was probably the worship services every night and then the final worship on Sunday morning. It was so much fun singing, dancing, and worshiping God along with about 40,000 other people, and hearing the speakers tell their stories about how God made a difference in their lives. We also went out to eat a couple of times, explored the town, went to an alligator hatchery, and of course, we had to go shopping! I plan to carry these memories with me forever and I know this trip made my relationship with God stronger. I want to give a huge thank you to everyone who donated their time and money to our youth group! We are very blessed to have a congregation like this! Thanks again…..
