Second Sunday

At the instigation of several youth on the Idaho trip the county youth group is beginning a “Second Sunday” event each month at which there will be games, light refreshments, along with singing and worship.  This is sponsored by the youth but not just for the youth.  It is for everyone.  The location will rotate around the county with first one at First Lutheran Church on September 8 from 6:00 to 8:00.  Please come for a time of great Christian fellowship

Mission Trip to Idaho

Click on the FLY Facebook link to the right for pictures of some of the 48 youth and adults from Kittson County on the mission trip to Idaho, based at Lutherhaven Bible Camp.  I (pastor) am not going to transfer them all to this blog.  Most pictures are by Beth.    We invite your prayers for Bennett, Kelli, Laura, Sierra, Sara, and Beth (updated list of those from First/Eidsvold on the trip) and of course all the youth and adults.  They will have a presentation on the trip some time later this summer.

Honoring Our Seniors

The three graduating seniors from Tri-County High School will be honored on Sunday, May 19, at the Sunday School program and picnic-style potluck dinner at First Lutheran Church.  The youth group will be

decorating a special table for them and providing the cake for dessert.  The WELCA will be giving each of them a gift as well.  The seniors will be wearing their graduation gowns at this event.  This year's class is one of the smallest of recent years.  Our parish's seniors are Macyn Lofstrom, Austin Walz, and Aaron Wikstrom.

On Saturday, April 20, youth from all over the Kittson County will be coming together at Maria Lutheran Church in Kennedy MN for our Youth Auction and Variety Show.  This is sure to be an exciting event!  Doors will open at 6:00 p.m. for our silent auction, as well as coffee and bars.  The real fun will start at 7:00 p.m. when we begin our variety show featuring skits and talents from our youth and will end with a live auction....of our youth!  We will be putting out a complete list of silent and live aution services closer to the event, so be sure to look for it.  We already have donations for our silent auction from Kickin'Up Kountry and Mattracks.  Come and support our youth, make some bids, and have a great time!

Brunch at Church

The First Lutheran Youth Group has begun to plan for a summer 2013 mission trip to Idaho!    They will perform a weeks’ worth of service work, coordinated through Idaho Servant Adventures.  This is a Kittson County-wide Youth Mission trip.     A breakfast fundraiser is planned for NEXT SUNDAY after church.   Please see the posters for more information or give Beth Murray a call.

Fifth Quarter - CANCELLED

Cancelled because the 1st to 4th quarters were cancelled by the school due to the ice and snow storm.  Can't have a fifth quarter without a fourth quarter.

The next Fifth Quarter for Karlstad area youth will be on Friday, January 11, at First Lutheran Church starting after the home basketball game at Tri-County School and going until 11:00 p.m.  All 7th to 12th graders are welcome for food, games, hanging out, and .....    First Lutheran Church is hosting this event for all youth.  The December Fifth Quarter was at the Baptist Church, and future Fifth Quarters will be at other Karlstad churches as this is something the churches are working on together.
