December event cancelled
The December youth group event has been cancelled. We are all just too busy right now for one more program or party, and it was never quite planned out. Thanks, 10th graders, for all coming to the 2010 Sunday School Christmas program, and to 9th graders for ushering and greeting, and to 8th graders for serving the refreshments.

Projector
The Youth Group has purchased a computer/DVD projector for use by the youth, Sunday School, confirmation class (says the pastor), and other groups at the church. The Youth Group requested and received funding from the congregation and the women for a three way split. Dalene Jacobson arranged the purchase through the Wikstrom Telephone Company. The youth thank both of them. The projector is much like the ones in classrooms at the school. Computer users will have to provide their own laptop. First Lutheran Church owns a DVD player, and the Social Hall has a large screen on the west wall. Eidsvold has a very nice portable screen for use in other rooms in either church.

Middle School Youth Gathering
Nine middle school (grades 6-7-8) youth and three adults attended the Northwestern Minnesota Synod Middle School Youth Gathering in Grand Forks Nov. 19-20. Peder Eide, who was the featured singer at the gathering, was in concert on Sunday, Nov. 21, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Newfolden, so a larger group of youth (grades 6-11) and five adults attended his high energy inspiring concert. Eide has become quite popular throughout the ELCA at youth gatherings for the message he brings “God Is Good…..All the Time!”

Youth Organizational Meeting
The First-Eidsvold Youth Group will have a pizza supper and planning meeting for 2010-2011 on Sunday evening, September 19, at 6:00 p.m. The adults have already received information about the fall Junior High Middle School synod gathering at Grand Forks and look forward to planning some other activities with the youth on a monthly basis. Do you wonder what the youth did last year? Check out the newly revamped youth page on the parish website.
.
Although most youth use electronic means of communication, the parish would like to send a paper copy of the newsletter to the graduates who are away at college or other schools. Please send an address to the parish office one way or another. We want to gather these addresses for the classes of 2010, 2009, 2008, and 2007.

Reggie Dabs
“YOU CAN NEVER CHANGE YOUR PAST, BUT YOU CAN CHANGE YOUR FUTURE.”
This is Reggie Dabbs motto. Reggie, a spiritual and motivational speaker for 25 years, recently spoke at various schools in NW Minn. He offered an evening performance at Grace Lutheran in Hallock to discuss his faith. Kelly Koland, Beth Murray, F.L.Y. members, and their friends, attended his faith talk.
Knowing today’s generation is facing unparalleled hurts, pressures, and choices, Reggie has committed his life to make a positive difference in the lives of youth. He spoke about family and how thankful youth should be that they have families. Reggie was the 3rd child born to an unwed mother. She gave him away and kept the others. He was taken in and adopted by his mother’s former high school teacher. He now realizes, through his faith in Jesus Christ, how blessed he has been. His motto is “You can never change your past, but you can change your future.” His also fond of teaching kids to say “I got yo back.” This means we all need to be there for each other.
